Day 1: Arrive Delhi
On arrival at Delhi’s international airport, you will be met by our representative and taken to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Delhi sightseeing and overnight train to Pathankot by Jammu Mail (2110/0715)
The old and the new, the ancient and the modern are constantly in juxtaposition in Delhi, the capital of India. Delhi has been continuously inhabited for over twenty-three centuries and is today a bustling metropolis.
Your tour today will include the sites of ‘New’ and ‘Old’ Delhi: the 12th century Qutub Minar Complex, with its soaring and graceful, hand-carved victory memorial, the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the first mosque built in India and the Iron Pillar, whose iron is so pure that it has not rusted after 2,000 years; Humayan’s Tomb, a fabulous example of early Moghul architecture dating from the mid-16th century; the 120 foot high arch of the India Gate Memorial, dedicated to those who died in World War I; the current government buildings; the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, where he was cremated on January 31, 1948; the splendid architectural achievement of Shah Jahan, Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, that reputedly required 5,000 masons six years to complete; and the royal residence of Shah Jahan, the Red Fort, built of red sandstone in 1638.
After the tour return to your hotel and later board an overnight train to Pathankot. Overnight on board the train.
Day 3: Arrive Pathankot at 0715 and drive to Dharamsala 90 km approx 2/3 hrs.
You will be met on arrival at Pathankot Railway Station and be driven to Dharamsala. On arrival check into your hotel in Dharamsala.
Dharamsala, situated at a height of 1400 M, is the third most popular hill station in the state. Macleod-ganj, which is a charming Tibetan settlement with bustling bazaars that sell Tibetan handicrafts and delicious Tibetan food, is a must-see at this place. Dharamsala is a major center for the studies of Tibetan culture and is renowned for being the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is also famous for its arts and handicrafts.
Take an afternoon walk to visit the Namgyal Monastery. Later return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: In Dharamsala
After breakfast your tour of Dharamsala includes a visit to the Tibetan Medical Library and the Medical Center. In the afternoon, drive to visit the Norbulingka Institute, which is set amidst beautiful gardens, surrounded by green fields of the Kangra Valley. The Institute stands against a backdrop of the towering Dhauladhar mountains of the outer Himalayan range.
The Centre for the Arts is now the only institution that combines training in the arts with the production of high quality art objects. The skills preserved and passed on at Norbulingka include statue making, thangka painting, appliqué and tailoring, woodcarving, carpentry and metal craft. The masters teaching these arts are true artists intent primarily on preserving their heritage and passing it on to a new generation of artists. The Norbulingka Institute is dedicated to making high quality works of art available to the public. This is part of an effort to increase appreciation and awareness of the excellence of Tibetan art among both Tibetan and foreign patrons and collectors.
Return to your hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 5: Drive to Bathad - approx 220 km 8/9 hrs
Today, you will leave early in the morning to drive to Bathad, which is the starting point of the first leg of your trek.
Day 6: Trek to Bashleo Pass
The first day of your trek involves a steep climb to Bashleo Pass (3,270 M) through thick forest. On arrival check into your camp for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Trek to Kullu Sarahan & drive to Sarahan
After breakfast, you continue the first leg of your trek till Kullu Sarahan where you will be met with your transport, which will drive you to Sarahan. Sarahan is a beautiful village surrounded by apple orchards and dominated by Shrikhand Mahadev Peak (5155 M) that resembles the "Shivling," and is famous for the Bhimakali Temple, a wonderful mixture of Buddhist and Hindu architecture. It is very sacred to both the communities. The Bhimakali goddess idol is approximately 200 years old. In olden days, human sacrifice was prevalent here, but now only goats are sacrificed. Day 8: Drive to Thangi – approx 98 km / 4/5 hrs
From Sarahan you will drive to Thangi. From here the parikrama of Mount Kinner Kailash (6,050 M) commences. This parikrama holds religious significance for the huge "Shiva Lingam," the representation of the Lord Shiva that the mountain has come to signify. Therefore, the circuit around the whole range attracts many pilgrims every year.
Day 9: Trek to Lambar
Your parikrama of Mount Kinner Kailash commences today. A slightly descending trek of 12 km takes you to Lambar (2896 M). Overnight in a camp.
Day 10: Trek to Charang - approx 04 hrs
Today your trek will take you through easy ups and downs as the valley opens up. Thereafter there is a gentle climb for about an hour and then you will descend to your camp at Charang (3700 M). In the afternoon you can visit the ancient Charang monastery. Overnight in a camp.
Day 11: Trek to Lalanti - approx. 06 hrs
Immediately after leaving camp you initially climb steeply, later the trek becomes gentle till you arrive at a small pass. From here there is a long descent that takes you to a valley. You will be crossing several streams along the way. Once you get to the riverside your trek continues along the river and after about 30 minutes you will reach your camp at Lalanti (4500 M). Overnight in a camp.
Day 12: Trek to Chitkul over Charang Pass 5242 M - approx 8 hrs
The final day of your Parikrama is a hard climb to Charang Pass (5242 M) and then a steep descent terminating at Chitkul (3450 M) the last inhabited village in the Baspa Valley, also known as the Sangla Valley. Surrounded by green fields and high mountain peaks, Chitkul is a fairyland. The quaint houses, temples, gompas, and the people of Baspa Valley conjure up the perfect image of a Shangri-la. The bewitching scenery and the eternal snow view from here is an unforgettable sight. Overnight at trekking camp / guest house.
Day 13: To Sarahan – drive 125 km / approx 6 hrs
After a satisfying experience of an invigorating trek covering a total of six days you drive back to Sarahan. Overnight in a camp.
Day 14: To Shimla – drive 175 km / approx 6/7 hrs
In the morning visit the famous Bhimakali temple at Sarahan and then depart for Shimla. On arrival check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 15: To Delhi - by Himalayan Queen 1640/2220
After breakfast you will be transferred to Kalka Railway station in time to board your train for Delhi. At Delhi you are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 16: Leave Delhi
In time transfer to the International airport to board tout flight for back home / onward journey). |
Day 1:Arrive Delhi. Full day city tour of Old and New Delhi. Evening witness a Sound n Light show at Red Fort.
Day 2:Drive from Delhi to Manali in the Kullu Valley today, which is a long 15- hours drive.
Day 3:Relax today and absorb the beauty of this town with its Beas River, amazing moutain views
and The Mall.
Day 4:Manali-Batal (8 hrs, 100 kms). Drive from Manali to Batal over the Rohtang Pass (3950 mts) into the Chandra Valley and onto Batal. Batal is at the base of the Kunzum La Pass. Spend the night in camp at Batal.
Day 5:Batal-Chandra Tal (5-6 hrs). The trek from Batal to Chandra Tal is a comfortable trek along a motorable track. The views down the valley include the BaraShigri Glacier and several peaks above 6000 mts. Camp at Chandra Tal, which has fabulous views of Mulkilla, TaraPahar and Tala Giri (all above 6000 mts). There is the option of spending an extra day at Chandra Tal and acclimatize.
Day 6:Chandra Tal-Tokpo Yongma (6-7 hrs). Hard trekking from Chandra Tal to the bank of the Tokpo Yongma (4350 mts). The track rises and falls over scree slopes till the campsite. It is usually quite cold here and good warm clothing is required.
Day 7:Tokpo Yongma-Tokpo Gongma (6-7 hrs). Trek along a lesser used trail to Tokpo Gongma (4650 mts). These trails are maintained by the sheperds who bring their flocks to graze in this area during the summer months. These sheperds are from a tribe called the Gaddi and travel all the way from their homes in Western Himachal to these grazing grounds every summer. They are invaluable to trekkers, especially early in the season. Without them treking in the area would be impossible.
Day 8:Tokpo Gongma-Baralacha La-Manali (4-5 hrs+5 hrs). Leave after an early breakfast. Follow a clear trail to the top of the Pass through lush green high altitude Pasteur's. The Pass is motorable and you will be picked up by jeeps and driven to Manali or alternately you can continue on a Trek or a Jeep Safari to Leh in Ladakh. Check into Banon Resort at Manali.
Day 9:Return from Manali to Delhi by air from Kullu or drive upto Chandigarh and train to Delhi.
Day 10: You will be transferred to airport for onward flight. End of our services. |
